For Leaders

NGĀ KETE O TE WĀNANGA

Evolving rangakura/research is finding, more and more, that human cognitive awareness comes from tapping into complex pools of multiple intelligences.

At Mad Ave, we believe that multiple intelligences are expressed masterfully in the Māori knowledge framework Ngā Kete o te Wānanga which serves as a core paradigm for this learning platform that we call TAO.

The 3 Intelligence sets in Ngā Kete harness the wisdom of:

  • The Spirit - Kete Tuauri,
  • Relationships or Whanaungatanga - Kete Tuaatea,

  • and Integrated Action or Praxis - Kete Aronui.

TAO integrates complex cognitive science, systems-theory research with indigenous pathways as a learning platform for adaptive and regenerative leadership.

In an increasingly complex world, leaders who are unable to tap into the full power of their multiple intelligences are at a disadvantage.

Truly regenerative leadership today requires whole, new levels of self-awareness and self-regulation for integrating creativity and connectedness that drives action.

The issues facing whānau and communities today require a deeper response-ability as opposed to kerewa/clever 'innovative strategies' and new 'wellbeing models'.

To truly thrive and lead successfully, to fulfill and realise the dream of true Tino Rangatiratanga in today’s complex environments, ‘whole leaders’ must learn to tap into the innate intelligence of the spirit, their relationships, execute and lead from there.

The TAO platform provides people and change agents, young and old, with practical tools for aligning and integrating their multiple intelligences for growing wisdom in their work and life, and for expanding their ability as effective leaders.

New strategies developed and executed from old school ways of being and thinking can only end up back where the problem's started in mainstream whakaaro and the status quo. What is required is a transformed way of being that enables effective leadership. Not a new approach to leadership, but a new way.

This TAO, or way is not about a particular ‘style’ or ‘type’ of leadership. It’s about the leader themselves and their ability to emerge with new levels of consciousness and wisdom in their navigation process.

Despite the abundant variety of leadership models available today, persistent issues still remain common to many communities such as:

  • Broken whānau vs Whānau Engagement
  • Chaos vs Purposeful Life choices
  • Exhausted Families vs Sustainable contributions to family and community
  • Destructive cycles vs Cultivating high-quality relationships
  • Paranoia and Guilt vs Freedom to create and to be
  • Blame vs Mana enhancing behaviours
  • Burn out vs Causing Leadership

The typical response to these and other frequent issues is to call for ‘incremental shifts’ in the forms of ‘innovation’ (in service or program delivery). Otherwise, the response is a call for an increase in leadership itself and a desperate pursuit of new models that hopefully catch the interest of the community.

While all of these responses are useful, any real ecological change that is sustainable and sensible requires leaders who are authentically connected, deep within themselves, to their whānau, and the communities they touch. By aligning their conscious and unconscious selves, they are able to harness the wisdom of the spirit, relational intelligence, and action towards powerful transformation.

No longer can we rely solely on the competencies dominated by the intellect alone. He moumou wa tera. Icons such as Marianne Williamson, Peter Block, Oprah Winfrey, Peter Senge, and many more are all saying, in one way or another, that leaders who operate only from the head are what they consider potentially ill-equipped.

This TAO website is truly a 21st-century learning academy that brings together a wide range of capacity building learning modules that all drives towards supporting ecological awareness, self-mastery and cohesion in the world.
